It's the final day of this year of 2012.
A fact I enjoy and dislike. Yes, I am contrary as usual.
Have I accomplished all I set out to in 2012? Of course not.
Have I tried as hard as I was able? Sadly, I must answer no.
Will I do better in this coming year of 2013? Oh yeal!
True, today has begun rather....discouragingly.
Little Bit was up most of the night, being sick.
And this morning finds him lying on the couch in my bedroom, watching a dvd and asking to play video games.
Sigh.....
But this evening we will indulge in our usual Yahoo Feast. And I'm certain Little Bit will be feeling better by then. So we'll gather round the fire and watch "Brave" which, incredibly we still haven't gotten round to watching. And we'll ring in this New Year with much banging of pans (particularly aimed at the corners of our home, driving out those nasty lurking ornery spirits and welcoming the joyous ones), and toast with our Lord of The Ring goblets (which light up at the bottom), and scribble down those habits we long to rid ourselves of on scraps of paper and toss them into the fire with much ceremony and bright promise.
And then it will be January 2013.
I call January the Month of Light.
It's a torch, a beacon. Illuminating the path into the year ahead.
All fresh and shining and just waiting for us to fulfill our wishes and dreams.
{And no we won't mess up this year. We just won't.}
And on this day next year, December 31, 2013. We'll be the same and yet different. Wiser, (and yes older...) Brimming with more lessons learned, more bits of our journey fulfilled, more memories tucked away.
2012, good or bad, joy filled or difficult, really exists only within us now. It's a part of us; memories and experiences to build up and learn from.
So welcome Year 2013. Ring the bells, bang the pots and pans, pass round the cup be it brimming with champagne or sparkling cider.
Look ahead to the thirty-one days of the Month of Light.
As the sun slowly returns, and each day we work closer to our heart's desire.
