Approx 3 lbs apples
2 Cups sugar
2 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp nutmeg
½ tsp allspice
1 Cup apple cider
½ Cup lemon juice
And this is How You Do It:
Peel, core, and slice apples, place in slow cooker.
Mix all remaining ingredients together and pour over apples. Stir till evenly mixed.
Cook for 9 hours on low or until mixture is thick and “spreadable”.
If there is too much liquid set lid ajar and let simmer till thickened.
Bottle and process for 10 minutes once water boils.
The Chickens love the peelings and cores!
Then into the crockpot.
And reheating in a pan the next day to thicken the apple butter up even more just before pouring it into the jars.
My next planned bottling endeavour: Mincemeat (sans the actual meat).
And (unless I run outta steam) Maple/Apple Jam.
