Cakes, Chicken, & Hayley Mills

Oh mah goodness I've just realized I've been neglecting to share our fascinating Sunday Night Dinner and a Movie!

I know the world has been holding its breath just waiting for me to post what we've been eating and watching on Sundays.

I'd hate for the world's face to turn purple, so.....

Sunday July 10, 2011

We grilled Marinated Chicken Thighs, which we enjoyed with rice and our favorite salad; and another salad (which is really a dessert but don't tell anyone and they'll never suspect!)

For dessert we had chocolate pudding cake made by Coyote.  I didn't manage to snap a photo of it, (though the above links are filled with photos so I feel it more than evens out).

Here is the recipe:

Highly Complicated Chocolate Pudding Cake  (Coyote copywrighted)

Make a chocolate cake (from a box.  How easy is that?)

Make some chocolate pudding (again, from a box).

Cut a slice of cake, plop some pudding on top.

It's delicious.  Coyote makes it all the time.

{Then they force me to eat it.  Yet one more reason my britches are too tight}.

Our official dessert was pineapple upside down cake. This is Son & Heir's favorite, and several of us like it a lot too.

{Coyote doesn't.  Hence his making the above pudding cake.}

But let me tell you - I have made a lot of pineapple upside down cakes over the years, but never have I had one slide out of the pan so perfectly as this one.

I just don't know what I did different.

It was bee-yoo-ti-ful My Friends.  A picture.  A lovely sight to behold.  It was almost a shame to eat it.

Almost.

See?  Isn't it pretty?

And then we borrowed Girly Girl's dvd and watched The Parent Trap featuring young Hayley Mills.

How's that for wholesome family entertainment!

And, since it's a two disk set, guess what we're going to watch next Sunday?

Isn't it wonderful having something to look forward to?
